How to use FAQ schema properly
FAQPage structured data describes a list of questions and answers on a page, in JSON-LD that machines read without guessing. Since 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites, but the markup still states your answers unambiguously, and question-and-answer content is one of the formats AI answer engines quote most readily.
- Mark up only visible content. Every question and answer in the markup should appear on the page. Use the "Matching HTML" tab if you need the visible version too.
- One FAQPage per page. Combine all questions on a page into a single block.
- Real questions. Take them from sales calls, emails and search queries rather than inventing them.
- Validate after publishing with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema.org validator.
