What belongs in an XML sitemap
List the canonical, indexable URLs you want found: pages that return a 200 status, aren't blocked by robots.txt and aren't marked noindex. Leave out redirects, duplicates, filtered or search result URLs and thank-you pages. Google ignores the priority and changefreq fields, so this generator leaves them out; an accurate lastmod is the one optional field it uses.
Upload the file to your site root, reference it in robots.txt with a Sitemap: line, and submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Bing's index also feeds several AI assistants, so it is worth doing both. Check your robots.txt with the free robots.txt tester.
